The 3rd Annual Estes Park Film Festival concluded on September 14th with University of Colorado graduate Troy McGatlin and his film "Broken Fences" winning Best Feature. In the film a lifetime of bad luck threatens a father and son's reunion, as old wounds resurface and new ones are opened in this fusion of family drama and contemporary western. Matthew Bowler's inspiring and heart warming film "Teresa" about a high school senior living with the debilitating disease Osteogenesis Imperfecta won Best Documentary, while Cosmos Kiindarius' hilarious film "The Quickie' won Best Short. The Audience Choice Award went to the documentary "Beauty Mark" about Champion tri-athlete and marathon runner Diane Israel and her quest to understand both the personal and cultural forces that propelled her to seek physical perfection at any cost.
Showcasing over 40 independent films from around the world, the 3rd Annual Estes Park Film Festival took place September 11-14 at the Historic Park Theatre in downtown Estes Park, Colorado. Built in 1913, the Park Theatre is the oldest operating movie theatre in America. Festival attendees and filmmakers from across the country traveled to Estes Park to enjoy the films, parties, and awards gala at the 3rd annual event. Organizers are already planning for next year's festival which will take place September 17-20, 2009 at the Historic Park Theatre.
